Overview
Lightship is a clinical trials service provider leading in increasing access and choice in taking part in research to improve equity for all. We design and conduct studies in partnership with biopharmaceutical companies to accelerate bringing new therapies to market. Our approach is to engage people where they are and support them across their journey in a clinical trial, from first contact to study completion. We work to make it easy, convenient, and safe for people to take part by offering visits in clinics, at home, using our mobile research units, and digital health tools. By transforming the way we conduct clinical research, we can decrease study timelines and reduce dropouts to accelerate development of better therapies. Given Lightship's distributed model and the semi-remote nature of this position, the Community Outreach Manager possesses a willingness and desire to work independently. Additionally, this position will require frequent local travel during working hours, and occasional overnight travel – approximately 30%.

The Community Outreach Manager is responsible for:
- Managing community and advocacy partnership development, including identifying and aggregating lists of potential partners for outreach, supporting development of materials for stakeholder engagement and conducting outreach efforts
- Managing established community partners, acting as their main Lightship point of contact and sharing regular updates as needed during engagement planning
- Supporting event planning and management in collaboration with community partners, including event coordination and material development
- Supporting resource development and engagement strategies for community events/programs
- Attending and facilitating various types of community engagement and recruitment events in on Lightship's Mobile Research Units (MRUs)
- Engaging with event attendees, caregivers, target patient populations throughout events; may include:
- Supporting educational programs on specific indications
- Hosting discussions with health care providers, community partners and other stakeholders
- Talking to individuals (and, as applicable, their caregivers) about clinical trial opportunities, including addressing concerns and answering questions
- Completing pre-screening activities for individuals interested in study participation
- Building rapport and establishing relationships with community partners, members and caregivers
- Ensuring Lightship MRUs are clean, organized, and event-ready prior to event start
- Documenting feedback, insights and follow-up actions gathered from events (from community partners and attendees) and reporting back to the Lightship project team to support continuous program improvement
- Facilitating warm handoffs of pre-qualified participants to site-based study teams
- Ensuring patient data collected during engagement events is entered into correct platforms
- Other duties as assigned
- Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Proficiency in relationship management, event planning and logistics coordination
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with talent for understanding, simplifying and effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences
- Ability to build rapport with community partners and event attendees to establish trust and confidence in the clinical trial process
- Calm, collected and compassionate demeaner, demonstrating sensitivity to the emotional needs of patients and their caregivers or family members
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- High level of self-motivation with a willingness to proactively address gaps and drive improvements
- Ability to perform responsibilities with a significant degree of independence, initiative, creativity, and expert judgement
- Exceptional ability to work as part of a team and to multitask effectively
- Good Documentation Practices
- Flexibility to travel to various community events and gatherings across the US
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred
- Has a driver license and access to a vehicle
- Education and experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., public relations, communications, marketing, Life Science or healthcare-related field) or requisite combination of education, training, and experience
- 5+ years of experience and skills in relationship management or community network building, preferably in healthcare
- Experience working with elderly populations, preferred
- Experience in outreach to and collaboration with Hispanic communities (and other diverse communities), preferred
