About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer with 1-3 years of experience to join our dynamic data platform team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines that drive our data-driven decision-making processes. You will collaborate closely with analytics engineers, DevOps, and other engineering teams to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and optimized for various business needs.
The Data Engineering team at Hims & Hers sits at the intersection of Engineering, DevOps, and Analytics Engineering. This role offers the opportunity to grow with the team while building a robust data platform and implementing impactful tools for a Self-Service Analytics platform.
You Will:
Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and data warehousing solutions, working closely with data engineers, SMEs, and business stakeholders to ensure data quality, accessibility, and reliability
Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into the data warehouse
Automate data ingestion and processing tasks to streamline workflows
Develop comprehensive testing strategies to ensure data integrity and pipeline functionality
Address data challenges such as inconsistency, quality issues, and complex transformations
Conduct data discovery activities, performing root cause analysis, and making recommendations for remediating data quality issues
Troubleshoot data issues and implement effective solutions
Engage in continuous learning to stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering technologies and best practices
Collaborate closely with your manager and Technical Program Manager to plan and execute sprints
Create and maintain documentation for data pipelines, processes, and data models to ensure transparency and ease of maintenance
You Have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or are in the process of obtaining a Master’s degree
1-3 years of experience from internships, work, or projects in a related field
Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java), Python’s data-related libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy), and basic knowledge of any variant of SQL
Experience with version control using Git
Experience working with major cloud platforms, with AWS or GCP being a plus
High attention to detail, particularly with data security best practices
A demonstrated interest in data and technology, with a love for learning new things
A passion for problem-solving, with comfort in navigating ambiguity and creativity
Strong attention to processing integrity and accuracy
Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools
