About 9amHealth

We’re creating a new standard of care.

9amHealth is specialized cardiometabolic care: a first of its kind, whole body approach to preventing and treating obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, and help with weight management. We offer custom care plans, prescription medications, and expert guidance to help our members live healthier every day.

9amHealth is a San Diego, California, based company led by the team behind mySugr, a successful diabetes management app acquired by Roche in 2017. 7Wire Ventures, Human Capital, Founders Fund, Define Ventures, Speedinvest, iSeed Ventures, and StartUp Health have backed 9amHealth, with a total funding of 25 million dollars. We are on a growth trajectory to achieve our mission of a more connected care approach for cardiometabolic health.

What it is

We are looking for a Registered Dietitian interested in having a flexible schedule.

This is a per diem, zero-hour commitment position. Ideal for those seeking flexibility.

For you, caring for people with chronic conditions like diabetes and obesity isn’t a job—it’s a calling. You feel a deep desire to be a force of positive change for the individuals you care for, but also within the field of cardiometabolic health-at large. You speak compassionately but earnestly, committing yourself fully to helping people understand their conditions, but understand what’s possible with the right support and resources.

What you’ll do

  • Provide comprehensive diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and weight loss care, education, and support for patients through chat, phone, and video calls following internal protocols.

  • Create thorough consults aligned with internal protocols for 9amHealth providers.

  • Collaborate cross functionally with support teams and other clinicians to coordinate patient care.

  • Develop tailored nutrition and lifestyle plans for patients based on their medical conditions, goals, and preferences, ensuring they align with evidence-based guidelines for managing diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and weight loss.

  • Track patient progress through regular check-ins, assessing the effectiveness of interventions and adjusting plans as needed based on clinical outcomes and patient feedback.

  • Provide motivational interviewing, coaching, and counseling to support sustainable behavior changes in patients regarding diet, exercise, and stress management.

  • Utilize patient data and health metrics to inform care recommendations, helping patients interpret lab results and tracking outcomes like weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation, ensuring all care actions, recommendations, and follow-ups are documented according to internal and legal standards.

What you’ll need

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Licensed Registered Dietitian Nutritionist plus Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) or eligible for certification

    • Strong knowledge of and experience in providing care for chronic cardiometabolic conditions, specifically diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity.

    • Commitment to staying informed on evolving 9amHealth workflows, updates, and clinical protocols through company communication channels and email.

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in direct patient care, preferably in a clinical setting or via telehealth, with a focus on chronic disease management.

    • Experience in medication adjustment in collaboration with a prescriber

    • Demonstrated ability to build strong, trusting relationships with patients through compassionate, tailored communication.

    • A quiet, dedicated workspace free from distractions to ensure patient privacy and maintain confidentiality.

    • Reliable high-speed internet connection to support phone, video, and messaging communications without interruption.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior work at a digital health company focused on chronic conditions.

    • Multilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish, to support diverse patient populations.
